Globally, after the pandemic, we have seen a major shift in the awareness of our own mental health and those around us. There has been a considerable rise in the number of help apps that are specifically catered to those that may be struggling with their mental wellbeing.
Today, mental health is such an important topic, especially when it is combined with having to juggle work-life, personal life and the surprises in between. But being aware of a problem is just the start.
This year, during Mental Health Awareness Week, Consalia took steps to show that mental health is more than just a talking point. Consalia recently launch a campaign, led by Luke Bowles, Business Development Manager, for Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW). This campaign was called “Five Salespeople Discuss Five Ways to Wellbeing”. Featuring 5 short videos and interviews with 5 very different salespeople, the campaign covered different aspects of mental wellbeing through the Five Ways of Wellbeing.
WHAT ARE THE FIVE WAYS TO WELLBEING?
Researched in 2008 by the New Economics Foundation, the Five Ways To Wellbeing are a set of researched messages with the goal to improve the mental health and wellbeing of individuals worldwide. According to the results of this research, the steps toward a healthy mindset and overall wellbeing are to connect, be active, take notice, learn, and give.
WHAT DID WE LEARN FROM OUR CAMPAIGN?
The Five Ways To Wellbeing campaign allowed audiences to get a closer look at the lives of a salesperson. What they may go through in a day, and what it means to them to connect, be active, take notice, learn, and give. They also share their personal mental wellbeing journey and advice for anyone that may be struggling in the same way they did.
Off the back of the MHAW campaign, a special Sales Transformation Podcast episode was recorded between Will Squire, Head of Sales, and Luke Bowels, both on the Consalia Sales team. During their discussion, they rewatched the Five Ways To Wellbeing videos while also sharing their own stories and what steps Consalia as a business, has taken to support its employees.
Q:
What are we doing differently at Consalia following the Five Ways To Wellbeing campaign?
Luke:
Well, the first one is that we go for a walk every Wednesday. We call it the Wednesday wander. What I like about that is it's on company time. It's from 9:00 AM till 10:00 AM every Wednesday. So as an employee of an organization, I feel valued because I'm sort of given that time back.
During that time the Sales and Marketing teams connect with each other. It’s a chance to sometimes talk about work, literally be active and take notice of each other. I feel that Consalia give that to me, a gift of time to go and enjoy a walk.
It's often so easy to forget to take care of yourself when there is so much going on around you. Balancing personal and work life can be difficult, but it's important that we each take time to stop for a moment and make sure we are all taking care of ourselves. This year’s MHAW was a special one for Consalia, because we took the time to really evaluate ourselves. Were we following the Five Ways To Wellbeing mindset? If not, what can be changed to ensure that each employee felt adequately supported?
As a company, we learned that taking a step back and re-evaluating is extremely important, and it's okay to ask for help or time for yourself. As we are in the business of transforming minds, it's first important to make sure we each have a healthy one to build upon.
